Dec 21 – Exciting Nursery News

We have some exciting news from the nursery – a new 70 foot polytunnel is on order and due to arrive in the next few weeks. Aside from the small issue of actually constructing the thing when it gets here, this is a new and exciting step forwards!

The hope is that the new tunnel will considerably increase the space we have available for propagating and growing our plants, which will in turn increase the range and quantity we can offer for sale.

The UK horticulture industry is facing some significant challenges at the moment: a reduction in the range of plants available to gardeners, spiraling prices and increased paperwork and red-tape for plant production and movement.

Historically, the UK has enjoyed a huge diversity of plants that the general public can buy and enjoy. And whilst this is under threat, we hope we can play our own small part in continuing to offer a range of plants, seeds, bulbs and tubers that are less frequently encountered.

Gardening has been described as the UK’s favourite hobby and so it seems a shame if the plant palette on offer to gardeners is reduced. Please do support us and other specialist independent nurseries where you are able. In doing so, you will not only be supporting independant local businesses, but also help to keep the UK gardening scene diverse, interesting and alive.
