Rhaphidophora
Rhaphidophora
Rhaphidophora is a widespread tropical genus of some 100 plus species, extending from Australia, Malaysia and through to tropical Africa. Although they are all evergreen climbing plants, they come in a huge array of shapes and sizes with many diverse and beautiful leaf forms.
The flowers typically consist of a robust spathe enclosing a stocky spadix in various shades of green, cream or yellow. All are well worth growing.
We don’t grow many Rhaphidophora, mainly due to their tropical requirements although many will make excellent and easy houseplants. However, we do grow a couple that seem to tolerate remarkably cool growing temperatures and that are happy outdoors for the summer months, and under unheated glass for the remainder of the year.
Our plants are propagated by cuttings and only ever available in very small numbers indeed.
