Agave salmiana var.salmiana growing in a 9cm pot.
Eventually reaching absolutely monstrous proportions in the wild, Agave salmiana var.salmiana is one of the largest Agave species. Thankfully in cultivation it is a much more manageable plant!
These plants have been raised by seed here and are currently growing in 9cm pots, they are strong little plants. The seedlings have taken below freezing in the greenhouse, kept dry for the winter months. I am unsure how they will cope outside unprotected, but initial cold tolerance at least appears to be good.
A superb species, and one that is not seen for sale too often.
