Description
1x seed packet containing 10x Allium flavum BC2301 seeds.
Allium flavum is a dwarf Allium species, widely distributed throughout much of the Mediterranean basin. It is variable in colour, appearing in various shades of yellow. BC2301 was collected in Croatia at around 1000m in altitude from the mountains close to Makarska. It seems to be perfectly hardy and easy to please.
Suited either for a pot in an alping house or cold greenhouse, or outside in a well drained full sun position. A raised bed or trough with sharp drainage would be perfect.
This form makes pale creamy yellow, loose umbels with a pleasing scent. Up to 30cm tall on thin wiry stems.
Easy from seed – sow into a good quality seed compost and lightly cover. The seedlings appear like very thin grass, so be careful when weeding the pots! Small bulbs about the size of a pea are made after the first year. FLowering sized bulbs are not that much bigger.
