Alocasia cucullata

£7.00

Price per 1x Alocasia cucullata rhizome growing in a 9cm pot.

Alocasia cucullata is an attractive and easily grown Alocasia species making bright green glossy heart-shaped leaves. Although the foliage is not as large as other species in the genus, this is worth growing for the ease of care and tropical appearance. An ideal plant for summer bedding in a tropical style garden.

We originally bought these plants in under the name Alocasia odora and started them into growth. It turns out that they were in fact Alocasia cucullata!

These rhizomes have been started into growth, and are rooting strongly into their pots. Get them quick before they get too large to send!

Tips for growth – the following has worked well for us:
– Grow in as warm a spot as you can find – by getting the plants growing well in a greenhouse or conservatory they can be planted out in full growth around late May, and brought in again during the Autumn.
– Water and feed frequently during active growth. Watering with warm water can give good results.
– Protect from wind.
– Keep on the dry side during the winter.
