Amorphophallus pulchellus is another tiny species from Laos. Sadly, it is likely now extinct in habitat, and the future of this wonderful little plant lies in horticultural collections. A rather sad example of the need for of ex-site conservation. Although this is relatively well established in hobbyist circles, due to it’s rarity in habitat, please don’t purchase this if you cannot look after it!
Tubers are flowering sized at around 1cm. These are half this size, and will need another year before flowering. Compared to the other dwarf species, Amorphophallus pulchellus seems no way near as vigorous and does not multiply as rapidly via offsets.
