Description

Amorphophallus symonianus is one of many recently described species from Thailand, found growing in pockets of accumulated leaf litter in limestone pockets.

Making 60cm tall plants with a classic dissected umbrella leaf, Amorphophallus symonianus boasts a creamy white spathe with a rather rude spadix. This is also one of the few species that makes intercalary leaf bulbils (along with Amorphophallus bulbifer, muelleri and probably a few others). These can be seen as swollen nodes at the numerous leaf axis in the Autumn.

Only one tuber offered this year, as can be seen in the photo.
