Description

Arisamea galeatum is a distinctive species from the Himalayas. The spathe hood is strongly curled over at the top, giving it a similar appearance to that of Arisaema ringens, although in reality the two species are very different.

‘Galeatum’ means ‘helmet like’, in reference to the shape of the spathe hood.

Potentially quite a large plant that can eventually reach over 1m tall. A very choice species. Tubers can take a full growing season to establish themselves. This should be hardy in the ground, but we have had several losses over the years and find it safer to lift the main tubers.
