The inflorescence is spectacular and bizarre, being strongly hooded and intensely patterned with maroon on a pale green background. The spadix appendage can be 80cm long and trails on the ground in a tangled mass beneath the plant. The single trifoliate leaf is architectural and showy.

In the wild, Arisaema griffithii grows amongst Rhododendrons in the Himalayas. In cultivation, it proves fully hardy in well drained soil and can tolerate more open, sunny conditions than many other Arisaema.
