Arisaema kiushianum ‘Amaterasu’

£15.00

Price per 1x offset tuber of Arisaema kiushianum ‘Amaterasu’. Please note – this is not a flowering sized tuber, rather, it is an offset propagated from our parent plants. It will need 2 more years before flowering. Offsets are just under 1cm in size.

Japanese growers have selected a number of different forms of Arisaema kiushianum, many of which are highly prized and sought after, often changing hands for eye-watering sums of money. Here we have a very small number of offsets from a form known as Arisaema kiushianum ‘Amaterasu’. It has a green flower, rather then the typical purple form. We have found this to be an ok grower, but perhaps not as strong or vigorous as the normal form. This really is a plant for the dedicated and serious Arisaema collector!

As far as we are aware, this has not been offered commercially before in the UK.

From Japan, Arisaema kiushianum is a real gem! The spathes are held low down below the foliage, and must surely be one of the most remarkable in the Arisaema genus.

Easy to grow, this rewarding plant will increase steadily after a few years. Grow in an ‘airy’ compost. It does best in a pot under UK conditions, and we have found it to be very susceptible to rot if planted in the ground.
