1x Flowering sized tuber of Arisaema serratum var.mayebarae.
Arisaema serratum var.mayebarae is the name given to the extreme black / dark form of Arisaema serratum, a hugely variable species from Japan.
Capable of growing to around 90cm+ in height, this is a tall species, and should be planted with protection from strong winds which can cause damage. Above the divided foliage sits a most remarkable deep maroon, almost black, narrow spathe. Quite the sight out in the garden!
Arisaema serratum rarely, if ever, makes an offset from the tuber and so has to be raised from seed. Consequently supply can be scarce and this form is always in demand.
Hardy to cold, but as is common with many Japanese species, winter wet in the UK can be a concern. Do grow it in a very well drained humus rich spot and perhaps consider giving shelter from winter rains.
