Arisaema siamicum Seeds

Price per 5x Arisaema siamicum seeds.

Probably the first time ever offered for sale in the UK – we are very excited to have a limited number of Arisaema siamicum seeds available.

Arisaema siamicum is a tropical species and is part of Section Fimbriata within the Arisaema genus. It requires some warmth and is will need a well drained compost mix. Some additional humidity may benefit this species also, however, it should not pose a huge challenge to grow successfully.

Arisaema siamicum was originally found in Thailand, but was later also discovered growing near the summit of Hòn Bà Mountain in Vietnam. Another Arisaema species was later found and described from the same location and given the name Arisaema honbaense, but this appears to be the same species and this name is likely invalid. Putting aside the murky world of taxonomic naming, this really is a special plant and one that is well worth growing. Extremely rare in cultivation.

In common with most other species from Section Fimbriata, Arisaema siamicum makes up to two trifoliate leaves that emerge from a subglobose tuber. This tuber has a dormant rest period and will need to be kept dry when not in active growth. The spathe tube is narrow and pale in colour, whilst the spathe mouth has large auricles and a shiny green colouration. The spadix is highly distinctive and has a characteristicly formed appendix.
