Description
1x flowering sized Arum purpureospathum tuber.
Discovered on the island of Crete, Arum purpureospathum is one of the stand-out species within the Arum genus, and one of my personal favourites. Leaves are typical for an Arum, being arrow shaped and plain green. However, the spathes are a superb rich colour with deep purple insides.
This is a fully hardy species, but it does appreciate some good drainage and a warm spot sheltered from strong winds, which can make a mess of the leaves. Planting at the base of a south facing wall, for example, would be perfect. We find it does better under glass purely for this reason.
As with all Arum species, Arum purpureospathum will appreciate regular feeding during its growing season.
