Description
1x Begonia ‘Torsa’ plant growing in a 9cm pot.
Begonia ‘Torsa’ is a hybrid crossed between Begonia grandis and an unidentified species (possibly something from Bhutan, although the exact species seems to have been lost in the mists of time). Whatever its parentage, it is a fantastic plant – much like a regular Begonia grandis but supersized!
The leaves are reported to reach 50cm in length, and although we’ve never had them reach this size, 30cm is easily acheived.Pink flowers are produced in late summer.
Begonia Torsa seems very easy to cultivate and thrives in moderately shaded positions in the garden in anything from slightly moist soil through to dry soils and appears to be totally hardy.
