Description

Price per 1x dormant tuber of Dracunculus canariensis. These are around 3cm-4cm in diameter, and will potentially flower at this size.

An exceptionally beautiful species from the Canary Islands of Tenerife, Gran Canaria and El Heirro. This is now a rare plant in the wild, and we are pleased to be able to offer cultivated plants.

Unlike its more commonly available relative, Dracunculus vulgaris, this superb plant thankfully lacks the unpleasant ‘scent’, instead smelling strongly of fruit rather than rotten meat… Spathes and spadix’s are pure white.

Unfortunately, Dracunculus canariensis is not hardy outdoors in the UK. Pot culture in a cool greenhouse is ideal. Growth typically starts during late Autumn or early winter with the plant going dormant again by late summer.
