1x seed packet containing 10x Eucomis bicolor Seeds.
Eucomis is a genus of bulbous plants from South Africa. Their common name ‘Pineapple Lily’ refers to the tuft of leaves held on top of the flower spike, giving the appearance of a pineapple top. Eucomis bicolor is the best known of all the Eucomis species, and it is also the hardiest and easiest to grow. In addition, it is easily produced from seed.
Glossy strap-shaped leaves emerge in late spring, followed by their remarkable flower.
Despite their rather exotic appearance, Eucomis are in fact very easy to grow, and are equally at home in a pot or in the ground. When pot grown, it can be wise to move them into a sheltered area during the winter and to repot once very few years. Grow in regular potting compost in a sunny spot.
Sow the seeds in a gritty seed compost. Additional warmth is not required. Germination is usually very good but can be erratic.
