Macrozamia communis is an Australian cycad, originating from New South Wales.
As with all cycads, this is a slow growing species, but one which has a certain amount of cool tolerance as it gets larger. Reports suggest it can take frosts and cold temperatures, so it has potential for a cool greenhouse over the winter.
Grow in a well drained compost mix. We use a peat free multipurpose compost with plenty of added perlite or bark chippings. A high nitrogen fertiliser and warmth can encourage faster growth.
