1x seed packet containing 10 seeds of Melianthus major.
Melianthus major is a South African plant, and one of the most remarkable large-leaved foliage plants that can be grown in the UK.
Here in Devon, it has proven itself to be totally hardy for many years. In colder parts of the country it may need some winter protection.
The glaucous green and heavily divided leaves can reach quite a size, and these are topped off by deep red flower spikes which appear anytime from late winter through to early summer. All in all, a fantastic display.
Sow the seeds in a good quality seed compost at 15 – 20 degrees. Germination is likely to take around 6 weeks.
