Description

Price per 1x tuber of Remusatia vivipara.

Remusatia vivipara has attractive, glossy green foliage, similar in shape to it’s better known relative, Colocasia. These are capable of reaching large sizes given plenty of water and warmth and have a very beautiful and exotic appearance.

The pale yellow inflorescence emerges after dormancy and before the first leaves. Seed is very rarely set, and the main method of reproduction is through bulbils with tiny hooks that attach to animals or birds and are transported away from the parent plant. This has lead to the common name of ‘Hitch Hiker Plant’!

Grow Remusatia vivipara in rich soil with plenty of water whilst actively growing. This is a winter dormant species, and the pink tubers can be stored dry until the spring provided they have enough bulk to withstand dessication. Tubers will need to be potted up in a well drained compost mix, kept warm and just moist until growth starts. Then grow on normally as with any other plant.
