Description
Supplied established in an 11cm pot. Seed raised here in Devon.
Trachycarpus princeps, the Stone Gate Palm, is perhaps the most spectacular of the Trachycarpus genus. Plants are always in high demand, not helped by erratic seed germination and their slow growing nature.
As with other Trachycarpus species, Trachycarpus princeps develops a stout, hairy trunk and large fan shaped leaves. These leaves are covered in a white bloom which, especially the undersides, which gives a unique and distinctive appearance.
Reliably hardy once larger and established, young plants are likely to need a little protection initially.
