Ariopsis is a small genus containing just a couple of species – Ariopsis peltata and Ariopsis protanthera. Neither are common in cultivation.

They are tiny tuberous plants from the forest understory, looking much like miniature Colocasia. Both species have very attractive foliage and are well worth growing.

The flowers appear before the leaves at the start of the growing season.
