Description
Chamaedorea radicalis – Hardy Parlour Palm
The palm offered is the exact one shown in the photo – well established in a 1litre pot.
A cold hardy palm species originating from relatively high altitude in Mexico.
This attractive small palm develops deep green and tough pinnate leaves, and reliably flowers from a young age. Plants are either male or female, and one of both sexes are needed to produce seed. Very much an understory palm, Chamaedorea radicalis requires a sheltered and shaded spot to thrive, where it can be deceptively tough and shrug off lows down to -6 to -8.
Plant in any good quality humus rich soil. Notoriously slow growing, but a superb and unusual plant.
These palms are seed raised in Devon.
