Xanthosoma saggitifolium ‘Albo Marginata’, sometimes known by its common name ‘Mickey Mouse Plant’ is an attractive variegated form of Xanthosoma saggitifolium. The dark matt-green leaves are highlighted with random variegation is a couple of shades of cream. Variegation is typically located towards the leaf margins, although every leaf is different. The form ‘Monstrosum’ takes this variegation to another level with crinkled leaves and more variegated patched. The leaf tips are often fused.
This is a tropical species, and although it does ok outside in the summer months, it is better treated as a houseplant where it will grow faster and produce larger leaves. Keep out of direct sunlight which can scorch the cream parts of the leaf.
