Description
Price per top quality UK grown tuber. Not the usually poor quality imports that are often seen for sale elsewhere. Although these tubers are more expensive than some, they are premium quality.
Arisaema speciosum has a wide distribution in the Himalayan region. This has given rise to a number of varieties, each with its own distinct qualities. This is the standard form, typical of the species, and a superb garden plant. Hardy and easy to please.
The tuber is a stocky rhizome. This should be planted horizontally and relatively close to the soil surface. Fully hardy in the UK, although as with all Arisaema, avoid water logged soil.
The single trifoliate leaf is large and broad and can reach around 70cm high. The spathe colour is red or maroon with vertical white stripes. This is held beneath the foliage and emerges when the leaf unfolds. The spadix appendage is extremely long, often seen tangled up with the leaf or trailing along the ground.
