Amorphophallus villosus

£60.00

Price per 1x tuber of Amorphophallus villosus. The tuber is around 2cm in diameter.

Described to science as recently as 2019 by the late and greatly missed botanist, Alan Galloway, Amorphophallus villosus is an exceptionally attractive and dramatic species, even amongst the genus Amorphophallus which is full of superb plants. The petiole has tints of pink and orange/ light brown in its mottled patterning, and the inflorescence is large and impressive. The spadix is notable in being covered in orange hairs, almost like short fur. Weird!

This species is extremely rare and has only been released in horticultural circles on one occasion through the distribution of seeds. These were highly priced and tubers are correspondingly expensive. We will not be able to offer this species very often at all.

Photos of the plant in flower can be seen on Alan Galloway’s website.
