Description
1x Arum pictum plant, growing in a deep 9cm pot.
Arum pictum is an anomaly in the Arum genus, being the only Autumn flowering species. In fact, this is such an anomaly that it has been reclassified into its own mono-specific genus, and should officially be called Gymnomesium pictum, although no-one would know what that is if we listed it under the new name!
A worthwhile species for both foliage and flowers, this is one of the few Arum species grown for variegated foliage (along with Arum italicum). The leaves have beautiful silvery veining in some forms, and are tough with an almost plastic texture. The flowers are deep maroon and the spadix’s are velvety purple / black. A most attractive species.
