Cyathea australis is a stunning tree fern, and one of the hardier Cyathea species. We are very pleased to be able to offer young plants of this superb fern!
Ultimately, and after many years, Cyathea australis grows into a tall fern with a trunk reaching 15m or more in habitat. Graceful deep green fronds can also reach impressive proportions.
Plant into a moisture retentive soil in cool shade. Like most tree ferns, regular watering will give best results, and under ideal conditions, Cyathea australis can be remarkably quick growing.
This is a tender plant for most parts of the UK, with the exception of parts of Cornwall and the far South West. Older plants have been known to take several degrees of frost when established. We are offering young plants in 9cm pots which will need winter protection for the first few years.
