Eryngium horridum Seeds

Despite the latin name of this plant, there is nothing even vaguely ‘horrid’ about this species! Eryngium horridum makes attractive rosettes of thin, serrated strap-like leaves, topped with a sturdy flower spike with small white flowers, much loved by bees. These rosettes usually reach around 30cm in diameter.

For any warm, sunny position in the garden. Eryngium horridum is fully hardy, loves warmth and sun, and makes a lovely addition to the flower border.

Seeds are easy germinators, and will usually germinate in spring or autumn depending on the time of sowing. Sow into slightly gritty seed compost and very lightly cover.

Zantedeschia jucunda Seeds

Zantedeschia jucunda, commonly known as the 'Yellow Arum Lily', is a superb species of Arum Lily from the Sekhukuneland mountains in the North East of South Africa. The true species is not common - this plant was originally introduced into cultivation by the late Rod and Rachel Saunders of Silverhill Seeds of South Africa. Making bright yellow urn-shaped flowers, this is an especially beautiful Arum Lily. Fully hardy in an unheated greenhouse, we have not tested it outside unprotected yet, however, it should be hardy in a normal UK winter provided that the soil is not too wet for the colder months. Zantedeschia jucunda seeds germinate readily - soak the seeds for 24 hours and sow into a regular seed potting mix. Gentle bottom heat aids germination.
