1x seed packet containing 10x Hedychium gardnerianum seeds.
Hedychium are members of the Ginger family, and several members of the genus are hardy enough to make permanent plantings in UK gardens. In most winters they behave as deciduous perennials, disappearing back underground after the first frosts to overwinter as a dormant rhizome.
Hedychium gardnerianum is one of the hardier members of the genus. It makes stems up to around 120cm with alternate leaflets and topped off with pale orangey / yellowish scented flowers from late August onwards. This is a superb plant for the herbaceous border or tropical style garden.
Easily raised from seed. Sow in a good quality seed compost at 20 degrees C.
