A range of sizes available. Larger ones should be flowering sized, or very close to it.
Spathantheum orbignyanum is an obscure aroid from South America. An easy species, this is a useful plant for the garden where the extraordinary leaf creates a wonderfully lush appearance.
This clone was originally collected in Bolivia back in 2002 at 3000m altitude.
These tubers are young, and will need a further two years before reaching flowering size or producing the adult leaf shape which is so spectacular. When mature, the inflorescence is produced before the single large leaf.
Spathantheum enjoy relatively cool conditions and do best grown outdoors for the summer, but is not winter hardy – the tuber will need digging up and storing frost free for the winter months.
A few notes on correct naming – we have previously offered this species under the name Spathantheum fallax. We have since found this to be Spathatheum orbignyanum.
