Description
Price per 1x rhizome division of Stylochaeton bogneri.
Stylochaeton is an obscure genus restricted solely to the African continents. There are roughly 20 species in total, with only a handful of these found in cultivation outside of botanical gardens. Here we are offering good sized divisions of the rarely encountered Stylochaeton bogneri. These will be sent potted up in 9cm+ pots, already putting out leaves.
As with many species of the genus, Stylochaeton bogneri forms a creeping rhizome with an extensive fleshy root system that hangs below this in the soil. This root system is very fragile and great care should be taken not to damage it during repotting, hence we only send these out potted up and ready to go.
Making attractive plants to around 20 – 25cm in height with hastate, subtly variegated leaves. The flower emerges from the soil and is pale cream in colour. Grow in a free draining mix. We have ours on a heat mat which seems to help with growth, but this is perhaps not too important.
A real collectors item, and this is the first time we have offered this species in many years of producing tuberous aroids for sale!
