Typhonium varians is an impressive little species that makes a rather striking bright red spathe with a prominent erect spadix.
Growing to around 18 inches in height, this is one of the larger Typhonium species. We have been growing this for a number of years and it very rarely seems to make offsets.
Easily grown in a well drained compost. Warmth is essential, and without it, the tuber is unlikely to start into growth and any subsequent growth will be weak. We grow our plants in a heated propagator unit with high humidity to start the tubers off each season.
