Arisaema taiwanense is an easily grown and highly attractive species from mountainous regions of Taiwan. Closely related to familiar species such as Arisaema consanguineum, it has a radial leaf that is divided into numerous leaflets and an impressive brownish inflorescence held below the foliage.

Description

1x seed packet of Arisaema taiwanense ‘Silver Leaf’ (10 seeds).

Arisaema taiwanense is an easily grown and highly attractive species from mountainous regions of Taiwan. Closely related to familiar species such as Arisaema consanguineum, it has a radial leaf that is divided into numerous leaflets and an impressive brownish inflorescence held below the foliage.

This is a variable species and the leaves can vary in colour from a deep lush green to a superb silver. These seeds are hand pollinated from one of the best pure silver forms. Arisaema taiwanense is cold hardy, but do avoid excessive winter wet which can lead to the tubers rotting.

Their common name 'Pineapple Lily' refers to the tuft of leaves held on top of the flower spike, giving the appearance of a pineapple top. Eucomis comosa is one of the easiest species. It is also one of the larger Eucomis and can make quite a statement in a herbaceous border. Glossy strap-shaped leaves emerge in late spring, followed by their remarkable flower. These seeds are our own Eucomis comosa hybrids - parent plants have a mixture of green or deep maroon foliage, with many shades of flower colour. Some of the resultng seedlings will no doubt be quite unusual.
