Arisaema tortuosum is an absolute must for any arisaema grower!
This is a variable species but must be one of the most spectacular Arisaema in regular cultivation. Typical height is around 120cm tall, with 2 – 3 leaves per plant. A group of 3 or more plants always give a stunning show!
The spathes are held above the foliage and so are always on clear view. Spathe colour is usually green, with hints of purple around the opening, but it is the spadix that usually commands the most attention – being ‘S’ shaped and emerging some way from the spathe tube.
Arisaems tortuosum is best planted deeply in shade or partial shade, and doesn’t usually break the soil surface until late in the season.
