Description

Price per 1x fully rooted cutting of Rhaphidophora peepla.

Rhaphidophora peepla can be found from Nepal through to Northern Vietnam and is one of the most cold hardy members of the genus. An evergreen climbing plant making elliptical glossy green leaves on a sturdy climbing stem. The flowers consist of a robust green and cream spathe with a chunky cream spadix. These appear from late summer onwards and persist for a considerable time.

We have grown this species outdoors here in Devon for most of the year, only going into an unheated greenhouse for colder periods. It seems remarkably tolerant of cooler temperatures, and whilst never a fast grower, it steadily puts on growth under these conditions. Our plant has been propagated from a plant that is permanently planted out in an extremely sheltered location in a mild Cornish garden! All of our plants are produced from cuttings, and these are only ever rarely and sporadically available.

Plants are established in tall pots. An unusual and rarely seen species.
